AICommit is a JetBrains Marketplace plugin that generates commit messages from a staged diff without leaving the IDE. It hooks into the places a JetBrains user already commits — the VCS panel, the terminal and the Git integration — and produces a message in one click rather than sending the developer to a separate chat window and back. The design decision that makes it worth listing separately from the many CLI commit-message wrappers is provider control: it works with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek and Ollama, and the Ollama and Azure paths exist specifically so a team whose code cannot leave its own infrastructure can still use it. That makes the plugin viable inside companies where a hosted-only tool would be rejected at review. It runs across IntelliJ IDEA, WebStorm and the rest of the JetBrains family rather than targeting a single IDE. Distribution and billing both go through the JetBrains Marketplace, which means installation is the normal plugin flow and the subscription is handled by JetBrains rather than by a separate checkout. The vendor publishes install and renewal figures on the homepage — more than 21,700 marketplace installs and a 58% renewal rate — which is more disclosure than most tools of this size offer.
