About Inspect
Inspect gives an AI coding agent a real iPhone or Android device to debug against. The problem it names is precise: your agent writes mobile code it cannot run, so it fixes layout and behavior bugs blind. Inspect connects agents to physical devices and simulators, speaking Safari's debugging protocol natively and translating it to Chrome DevTools Protocol, and driving Android over ADB — on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Notably, no Mac is required for physical devices and there is no cloud device farm; on macOS with Xcode, agents can create and boot iOS simulators for a zero-hardware path, while a USB cable gives them real hardware. It meets agents wherever they are, with no SDK and no lock-in. The CLI returns console errors, network requests, and snapshots as clean JSON, with error messages written to explain how to recover — a detail that matters because agents act on error text. Chrome DevTools MCP connects straight to Inspect's CDP endpoint, so MCP-based agents debug real devices using tools they already have, and Puppeteer-compatible clients work too. There are installable agent Skills plus workflow guidance served by the CLI itself and version-matched so the agent's playbook never drifts from the installed tool.
