Transactional is PDF infrastructure built on the mental model developers already carry from transactional email. You design a document once as HTML and Tailwind, drop Handlebars placeholders, conditions and loops where the data should land, and then POST a document id plus the variables your backend already has to a single endpoint; the service compiles, renders and hosts the file on a CDN and returns a URL you can serve to the user or store. There is no layout engine to learn, no rendering code to keep alive, and template changes ship without a redeploy. The part that separates it from the previous generation of PDF APIs is that the whole API is also exposed over MCP. An MCP-aware assistant — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini — can create the template, edit its HTML, render a real PDF against your sample variables to check the result, and then write the integration into your codebase, controller, types, error handling and fallback included, without you switching to a dashboard. The editor is shared between the two paths, so a template an agent drafted is one a human can open and fix. Any Google Font is available, every call is logged in the dashboard, and the free tier is full-featured rather than a trial.
