Stormkit is a self-hostable deployment platform positioned directly against Vercel and Netlify, and its most interesting design decision in 2026 is that it treats an AI agent as a first-class operator rather than a visitor. The landing page splits into For Humans and For Agents, and the agent path is not a chat widget: an MCP server exposes the whole platform, so an agent can provision a server, run a deployment, publish it and read the logs when something breaks, which closes the loop that usually forces a human back into a dashboard mid-incident. The human path is a one-line interactive installer that asks for the domain and settings as it goes, or a hosted cloud option for teams that do not want to run infrastructure. Feature coverage is what a team migrating off a managed host would check for: git-push-to-deploy against GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, a unique URL per deployment, automatic TLS with support for bringing your own certificates, instant rollbacks, zero-downtime rolling updates, audit logs, automated end-to-end tests triggered after a deployment, and built-in performance, error and visitor monitoring. Because deployments can run on your own cloud or on-premises, data residency and compliance stay under your control rather than the vendor's, which is the argument the self-hosted tier exists to make.
