/dev/push is an open-source alternative to Vercel and Render for teams who want push-to-deploy ergonomics on infrastructure they own. Connect a GitHub repository and every push deploys; you can also deploy any specific commit on demand, which makes rolling forward or back a selection rather than a rebuild. Environments are first-class: define as many as you need and map branches to them, so main goes to production and a release branch goes to staging without duplicated configuration. Deploys are zero-downtime — a new build is only promoted into production once it has built and started successfully, so a broken build never takes the site with it — and the deployment list shows each commit, its author, branch, message, duration and current status, with the commit hash linking straight back to GitHub. The project is self-hostable, which is the whole point: the same experience as a managed PaaS without per-seat pricing, egress surprises or a vendor holding your production environment. An online demo is available for evaluation without installing anything, and the project maintains public documentation, a GitHub repository and a Discord community. It is developed in the open by hunvreus, whose own repositories appear in the site's example deployments, and the project keeps its documentation, issue tracker and community discussion all in public rather than behind a support portal. For a small team the practical appeal is that the deployment story stops being a line item that scales with headcount or bandwidth: you run it on a box you already pay for, and the workflow your engineers expect from a managed platform is preserved intact.
