PageDog is a local-first Mac app that watches a selected region of a webpage on a schedule and uses a hosted model to decide whether the condition you described in plain language has actually been met. That last clause is the entire product. Conventional change monitors fire on any diff, which means a page with a rotating banner or a timestamp trains you to ignore the alerts within a week. PageDog captures the area you dragged a box around, then asks a model whether the thing you care about happened — a price dropped below a number, a fare appeared on a route, a presale opened, an appointment slot became available — and only then notifies you. Because it runs locally on the Mac, captures and change history stay on your machine rather than in a vendor's database, and the before-and-after images are saved alongside each verdict so the alert is auditable rather than a bare notification. Scheduling is per watch with full frequency control, from minutes to hours, and delivery covers system notifications, email alerts with the selected screenshots attached, and HTTPS webhooks in generic JSON or Slack, Discord and Teams shapes. The free tier is a real allowance rather than a trial — twenty completed AI checks a month, no card — and the paid tiers are a flat unlock rather than a per-check meter, billed through Polar.
