Otelic is hosted logs, traces and alerts built directly on OpenTelemetry, which means instrumentation is the standard collector and SDK rather than a proprietary agent you would have to rip out later. It covers JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, C#, .NET, Erlang, Go, Java, PHP, Python, Ruby and Swift, and plugs into Kubernetes and the OpenTelemetry Collector, so most modern libraries for SQL, MongoDB, Redis and REST servers emit usable traces with no custom code. The argument the homepage makes is operational rather than technical: without centralised logs, developers SSH into production to grep, log rotation has often already deleted what you need, and multi-server deployments make reproduction hard enough that bugs get closed as unreproducible. Centralising the data removes the need for that access and makes alerts and webhook-driven automation possible at all. What makes it unusual for the category is the billing model — there is no monthly subscription, no per-seat, per-host or per-search fee. You top up a balance and pay per gigabyte at a rate set by how long you want the data retained, and if the balance runs out you fall back to default retention rather than getting a surprise invoice.
