About Mockaron

Mockaron creates mock REST APIs without any server configuration, so front-end work can proceed in parallel with the backend instead of waiting on it. Routes are defined in a visual, no-code editor with a real-time preview of the response, and each one can be built up to a realistic level of detail: HTTP method or CRUD verb, custom request and response headers, HTTP status code, deliberate response latency to test loading states, and multiple content types including JSON, HTML, XML and plain text. Response bodies are built in a visual schema editor that handles nested objects, arrays and per-field data types, with built-in generator functions for producing random values so a list endpoint returns twenty plausible records rather than the same one twenty times. Request matching is where it becomes useful for real scenarios rather than happy-path stubs: rules can key on the request URL, method, headers, query parameters or body, with regular expressions and wildcards, so one route can return a success payload for one input and a 422 for another. Authentication can be defined on the mock itself, with private routes and authorization endpoints, which is what makes it usable for prototyping a login flow. The vendor also frames it as a privacy measure — mocking removes the need to expose real data in development and test environments at all.
