JustBackend replaces a database with a plain REST API for the projects that never needed a database in the first place. You get POST, GET, PUT and DELETE against your own named collections, with no schema to design, no migrations to run and no server to host — the stated audience is solopreneurs shipping a front end, frontend developers who need somewhere for data to live, and anybody mocking or testing an API before the real backend exists. The query layer is more capable than the pitch suggests: server-side pagination via order_by and order_dir, filtering by any field name directly in the query string, and operator postfixes — _gt, _gte, _lt, _lte, _eq, _neq — appended to field names for range and inequality queries, so ?birthdate_gt=1999-12-31 works without a query language to learn. It is deliberately tool-agnostic, working with cURL, Postman, fetch, Python requests, Swagger or a Go client, because the whole surface is HTTP. A playground on the homepage runs against a demo project so you can try it before creating an account. The roadmap names WebSocket notifications, webhook subscriptions, Google Docs as a backend, payload validation and data generation. The site is unusually blunt about who should not use it: people who want to tune their own backend, and database schema enthusiasts.
