About FailBrief

FailBrief is a GitHub App that reads your failed GitHub Actions runs and posts an explanation of what broke directly on the pull request, within seconds, without anyone going to look for it. The flow is webhook-driven rather than polled: GitHub fires the moment a workflow fails, FailBrief fetches the logs, extracts the relevant failure context, classifies the error type and severity, and comments with the impact, the root cause and a suggested fix. Install once and it covers every repository on the installation with no per-repo configuration, which is the practical difference between this and a CI plugin you have to remember to wire up. The permission scope is narrow and stated plainly: read access to Actions, checks and repository metadata, write access only to pull requests so it can post its comment, no read access to source code, no write access to the repository, and logs are never stored. It also detects flaky tests by tracking which tests pass and fail inconsistently across runs. For agent workflows there is a remote MCP server available on every plan including Free, authenticated by OAuth and read-only by design, so Claude, Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code can be asked in plain English which tests are flakiest this month, whether a given error has occurred before, or why last night's deploy failed. Billing counts one analysis per failed workflow run, not per failing job and not per posted comment.
