TalkToType is a desktop dictation tool and meeting recorder for Windows and macOS built on a push-to-talk model: hold a key, speak, release, and the text lands wherever the cursor already is. Because it operates at the OS level rather than inside a single application, it works in any text field — an inbox, a ChatGPT or Claude prompt, Slack, VS Code, Word, Notion, a browser search bar. The company's argument for it is not raw speed but fidelity: the thought is complete when you have it, and typing it out letter by letter makes people cut nuance and shorten explanations, which matters more than usual when the destination is an AI prompt, where a fuller context produces a materially better answer. The meeting recorder captures both the microphone and system audio, which means both sides of a Teams or Zoom call are recorded without a bot joining the meeting and announcing itself — the same mechanism works for podcasts, interviews and an unplanned conversation you want to keep. Recording happens locally like any other recorder, and the site is unusually direct about the legal consequence, stating plainly that the user is responsible for disclosing recording where local law requires it and naming the EU and most US states specifically.
