About SplitMyExpenses

SplitMyExpenses is a shared-expense tracker for groups — roommates, trips, couples and one-off dinners — that adds bank and card linking and AI receipt itemisation on top of the familiar bill-splitting model. A user creates a group, shares a link, and adds expenses that can be split equally, by exact amount, by percentage, by shares, by adjustment or line by line through itemisation. Balances are computed continuously and, when a group settles up, debts are automatically reshuffled to minimise the number of individual payments needed to clear everyone, then handed off to whichever payment app the participants already use, deep-linking straight to the charge or pay screen rather than asking anyone to move money through the vendor. Over 150 currencies are supported, including mixed-currency receipts. Two features distinguish it from the incumbent it names directly. Transactions can be imported automatically by linking credit cards and bank accounts through a payment processor, so shared charges are fetched daily instead of typed in; and a photo of a receipt is itemised by AI into individual line items, which can then be assigned per person. The interface leans on keyboard shortcuts, custom paid amounts and expansive split types for speed, and the vendor publishes migration paths and comparisons for users coming from Splitwise. Recurring expenses are supported on both tiers, capped on the free plan.
