OpenSEO is an open-source SEO platform built to be driven as much by an AI agent as by a human. It covers the standard research surface — keyword research with volume, difficulty, intent, and live SERPs; saved keyword lists; rank tracking over time; domain overview with organic traffic and ranking-keyword estimates; backlink and referring-domain inspection; and a crawling site audit for technical issues — all on real DataForSEO data rather than modelled guesses. On top of that it adds an AI-visibility layer that looks up brand mentions and citations inside AI search results and a Prompt Explorer that compares answers to the same prompt across supported models, which is the part that matters if you care whether assistants recommend you and not just whether Google ranks you. The distinguishing feature is the MCP server. Instead of copying numbers out of a dashboard into a chat window, you connect Claude, Codex, OpenClaw, OpenCode, or Gemini directly to OpenSEO and let the agent run keyword research, competitor analysis, backlink checks, and Google Search Console queries itself, writing results back into your workspace where you can review them in the UI. A separate Search Console MCP exposes your own performance data to agents, and prepackaged Skills wrap common workflows. Everything is self-hostable under an open-source license, which the project frames as the point: teams that would otherwise build an internal SEO tool are told to build on top of OpenSEO instead.
