Mesa is a desktop IDE built on an infinite canvas rather than a tab bar, designed around the assumption that several CLI coding agents are working at once and you need to watch them. Instead of a file tree and an editor pane, you drag nodes onto a spatial workspace: agents, terminals, browsers, databases, files, HTTP requests, Figma frames and plugins all become objects on the same surface, and zooming out shows every project at a glance. The specific problem it targets is one that shows up as soon as you run Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI in parallel — each one lives in its own terminal window, you lose track of which is mid-task, and switching between them costs the context you were holding. On a canvas they are visible simultaneously, running in real time. Mesa is local-first: it works against folders on your machine with nothing to configure, and the free tier explicitly does not gate agents, projects or terminals. The paid tier is a supporter subscription rather than a feature wall — the FAQ is unusually direct that AI agent support is unlimited on free and that you bring your own API keys. What Pro actually buys is multiplayer rooms shared with a team, early access to unshipped features, a supporter badge, priority support and a say in the roadmap.
