About ContextWire

ContextWire is a research and context API built for AI applications that need sourced answers rather than raw search results. One endpoint takes a question and returns an extracted answer plus the sources behind it, with page excerpts when snippets are not enough. Underneath, it fans out across more than 100 search engines via SearXNG — Google and Bing included — with automatic retry and result deduplication, and 22 search profiles covering web, news, academic, code, and social. Deep page reading fetches and parses full pages when a snippet will not do, extracting relevant paragraphs with table support and returning clean Markdown or text. Academic coverage is unusually thorough for a search API at this price: CrossRef, arXiv, Semantic Scholar, PubMed, and OpenAlex, with DOIs, citations, abstracts, and metadata. There is also direct Wikipedia parsing with infobox and Wikidata entity resolution, and Fandom/wiki.gg access across 40+ game and media wikis. The answer-extraction layer runs on OpenRouter's free tier, which is how the vendor gets to advertise zero LLM cost per query and no API-key management for the extraction step. The vendor reports 94.3% on the SimpleQA benchmark with sub-4-second average responses. It ships an MCP server so agents can call it directly, and the free tier is generous enough to build against before paying.
