About zot

zot is a coding agent harness distributed as a single Go binary with no runtime, no Docker requirement, no package manager, and no install tree — you drop it on your $PATH and run it. The design philosophy is subtractive: the core is just the agent loop with four built-in tools (read, write, edit, bash), described as the minimum viable toolbox for an agent that actually ships code, and anything else is opt-in. There is no mandatory MCP layer — you build CLI tools with skills, or add an extension that speaks MCP if you genuinely need one — no plugin store that installs anything automatically, and no configuration sprawl, with settings in a single config.json, themes as partial JSON, and the system prompt overridable by one file. Extensions are written in any language over subprocess plus JSON-RPC and can register slash commands, tools, permission gates, and interactive panels. A swarm mode runs background subagents alongside the main session, each with its own model loop in the same repository. Sessions can be resumed, forked, branched, compacted, and exported as portable transcripts, with automatic compaction before the context window fills. It speaks to most providers — Anthropic, OpenAI/Codex, Gemini, Kimi, DeepSeek, Bedrock, Vertex, Copilot, OpenRouter, Groq, Cerebras, xAI, Mistral, Together, Fireworks, Cloudflare, Ollama and managed llama.cpp — through one model catalog. A Telegram bridge lets you DM the agent from anywhere.
