Writers Brew is a native macOS AI writing assistant that works across every application rather than inside one editor, reached four different ways so it fits whatever the user is already doing: a Spotlight-style search bar, a menu bar item, a full app window, and a keyboard shortcut applied to text highlighted in any macOS app. Thirty-plus predefined writing tools cover the everyday operations — rewrite, explain, summarise, translate across fifteen-plus languages, and reply — and a build-your-own-preset system lets a user save their own prompts as first-class tools, which is what turns it from a fixed menu into a personal workflow. Two non-AI components sit alongside and are a large part of why it holds up: Utils handles the small mechanical text jobs that do not need a model at all, such as find and replace or inserting a prefix and suffix on every line, and Snippets is a full text-expander in the TextExpander mould with smart placeholders that resolve at expansion time ({date}, {time}, {day}, {clipboard}) plus custom placeholders that turn a snippet into a fillable form. OCR extracts text from images anywhere on macOS. Integrations reach Raycast and, newly, PopClip.
