Whisper Notes runs Whisper speech-to-text entirely on the device, on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with no server round trip at any point — the app works in airplane mode, which is the plainest possible demonstration of the claim. Three engines ship in every copy and the user chooses which runs: Parakeet V3 as the default covering twenty-five European languages, and Whisper Large V3 Turbo for the wider hundred-plus language set. On macOS it provides system-wide dictation by holding the Fn key, so it works in any application rather than only inside its own window, and it produces speaker-labelled, timestamped turns for multi-person recordings. The commercial model is the differentiator in a category that has almost entirely moved to subscriptions: it is a one-time purchase with no subscription, no ads and no recurring cost, and future updates on both platforms are included. The vendor draws the comparison explicitly on its own page against a cloud competitor charging $30/month and against MacWhisper's €64 one-time price. The Mac version is free to download and gives ten thousand words with no card and no signup before asking for the licence; the iOS version is bought outright from the App Store. On-device processing is also faster, with no network or cloud queue.
