VoiceNote is on-device dictation for Windows and Mac, sold on a one-time licence rather than a subscription, and built around a claim it invites you to test directly: switch on airplane mode and keep dictating, because nothing was leaving the machine to begin with. A distilled 90MB model runs on the CPU, audio is wiped the moment it is transcribed, and there is no account and no server. You hold a single hotkey, speak naturally, and polished text lands in whatever application has focus — Slack, Teams, Notion, Word, Google Docs, WhatsApp, VS Code, Discord, Linear, Obsidian or anything else — with filler words and false starts cleaned up rather than transcribed literally. It also learns the vocabulary you actually use over time, which is the practical difference between dictation you keep using and dictation you abandon after the third mangled proper noun. The privacy architecture doubles as a procurement argument: because nothing is transmitted, the vendor positions it as GDPR and HIPAA compatible by design with no DPA or BAA to negotiate, which is the usual blocker for approving dictation software in regulated teams. Licences are perpetual with every future update included, sold per number of devices, with a seven-day refund and Polar checkout.
