userTourKit is an open-source onboarding toolkit for React — product tours, checklists, hints and in-app messaging — built as headless hooks plus composable components rather than as a hosted widget you embed. The core is three MIT-licensed packages covering tours, React bindings and hints, free forever for any project including commercial ones, and they are genuinely small: under 8KB gzipped, TypeScript strict, working with shadcn/ui out of the box. The library handles the parts that are tedious to get right by hand — positioning, focus trapping, keyboard navigation and screen-reader announcements — and targets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, which is the specific reason a team would choose it over hand-rolling a tour component. Setup is four steps: install one package, wrap the app at the layout root, define steps declaratively with target selectors, and start the tour from a hook.
