TablePro is a native macOS database client covering 25 engines — MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Snowflake and twenty more — written in Swift with SwiftUI and AppKit. The engineering claim is the pitch: there is no Java runtime, no bundled Chromium and no JavaScript engine anywhere in it, which is a direct shot at the Electron and JVM database clients that dominate this category and that developers routinely complain about for memory footprint and launch time. The AI-relevant part is that it ships both an AI assistant inside the app and an MCP server, so an agent such as Claude Code can query and inspect the same databases you have configured in the GUI without a separate connection setup. Security features are unusually thorough for an indie tool: Safe Mode, Touch ID gating, SSH tunnels, and a stated design in which team-shared connection definitions never carry passwords — each member supplies their own. The rest is standard but complete: SQL editor, data grid, ER diagrams, import/export including XLSX. The licensing is genuinely unusual. The app is AGPLv3 and fully functional with no licence at all, no trial countdown and no per-Mac limit; paid tiers add iCloud sync, a second activation, encrypted connection export, environment variables in connection fields, and team catalog features.
