Stepper is a workflow automation platform in the Zapier and Make lineage, rebuilt around a conversational editor and priced aggressively enough that cost is its main argument. You describe what you want in natural language and the assistant generates the steps, answers questions about existing logic or modifies it in place — but the visual editor stays available throughout, so you can take manual control and inspect exactly what the automation does rather than trusting a black box. The structural idea that distinguishes it from the incumbents is modular components: a reusable set of steps you build once and drop into as many flows as you like, which is how recurring logic like authentication, lookups and common transforms stops being copy-pasted across a dozen workflows. Components can be bundled into a library and shared across every flow in the account. It currently supports 467 applications organised by category with more added weekly, and publishes a roadmap of what is coming next. Cost control is explicit in three ways: unlimited steps on the paid tier subject to fair use, bring-your-own API keys so AI and email steps run at your own provider rates, and pre-purchased credits that do not expire or reset monthly, which the company frames as avoiding bill shock. Live template workflows are published and usable immediately.
