remio is a macOS personal AI assistant and knowledge hub that captures the material your work actually generates — web pages, meetings, emails and files — and turns it into searchable knowledge that its AI answers from. The capture-first design is the differentiator against a general chatbot: rather than asking you to paste context every session, remio accumulates it, so questions get answered against what you have actually read and attended. On top of the knowledge base sit a set of named surfaces including Ask remio for querying it, AI Presentation and AI Excel for generating artefacts from captured material, free recording, deep research, a YouTube summariser and podcast transcription, plus role-specific configurations for product managers, engineers, sales, marketing, HR and students. The privacy and cost story is the most interesting commercial detail: paid tiers include enterprise privacy with bring-your-own-key and a configurable base URL, and there is a dedicated BYOK plan at a low monthly rate that unlocks the full AI feature set while you supply the model credits — a genuinely different bargain from the usual all-inclusive subscription, and a meaningful one if you already hold API keys. The free tier covers basic knowledge management and AI with highlights, comments, basic search and reference, and two-device sync. Paid tiers are annual-first, scaling AI credits, with full device sync above free.
