Quackback is an open-source alternative to Canny, licensed AGPL and offered either self-hosted for free or as a managed subscription. It covers the standard product-feedback triangle — feedback boards for collecting and organising feature requests, a public roadmap for sharing direction, and a changelog for announcing releases — plus the pieces that make those usable at volume: an admin inbox with filters and bulk actions for triage, one-click public voting with trending signals, and an embeddable widget for collecting feedback inside your own product. The AI layer is applied where it earns its place rather than as a headline: search, summaries, duplicate detection and sentiment and demand analysis across incoming posts, which is the work that otherwise makes a busy board unusable. The vendor markets six distinct jobs off the same system — feature requests, feedback management, voice of customer, feedback analysis, innovation management and bug tracking with sync to your existing tracker. Being AGPL and self-hostable is the real differentiator: the data stays in your infrastructure if you want it to, and the hosted plan is a convenience purchase rather than the only path. Docs with an API reference, a glossary, free PM tools (NPS, RICE) and a public changelog are published.
