Palmier Pro is an open-source macOS video editor built so a coding agent can drive the timeline. Claude, Codex or Cursor connect through MCP and edit directly — trimming, reordering clips, generating footage — while the same multi-track timeline stays open for hand editing. The economics are unusual and worth stating plainly: the editor itself is free and stays free, with no account required, full multi-track editing, local transcription, footage search, video rendering and NLE XML export. What the paid tiers add is generation credits and cloud services, not editor features, and the pricing page says so explicitly. That makes the free tier the actual product for anyone who already pays for models elsewhere and only wants the agent-driven editing surface. The generation layer routes across a long list of current image, video and audio models — Seedance, Ideogram, Kling, Krea, Google Omni, Recraft, FLUX, Reve, Nano Banana, Runway Aleph, ElevenLabs, MiniMax, Topaz, LTX, GPT Image, VEED Lip Sync and Grok Imagine among them — so the credits buy access to a rotating frontier rather than one vendor's model. Palmier reports over 100,000 downloads and the company itself used it to produce fifteen-plus cinematic launch videos for other YC companies, which is a more credible proof point than a testimonial. It requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, which is the one real adoption constraint.
