Opper AI is a European-hosted AI gateway that gives you one API key and one endpoint for more than 300 models across 30-plus providers, covering text, image, voice, and video. It is drop-in compatible with the OpenAI SDK — you change the base URL and keep your existing code — which also means agents and tools already written against that interface work unchanged, including Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, OpenClaw, and Hermes, each of which can be pointed at a different underlying model without touching the app. The distinguishing feature is jurisdiction: models are offered with explicit EU and US hosting options, so a European team can keep inference inside the EU for GDPR purposes while still reaching frontier models, and can switch the model behind any app at any time. Billing is pay-as-you-go with a prepaid credit balance and optional auto top-up, plus spend controls. Above the raw gateway sits an optional control plane that adds an LLM-as-judge that auto-scores every generation, full tracing with spans, prompts, responses, and custom metrics, intelligent routing and fallbacks across providers and regions, real-time PII masking and content filtering, budget caps, and audit trails.
