MailFixture is email infrastructure for test suites: create a real, receive-only inbox in one API call, have your application send it the signup email, and get the one-time code handed back to the test already parsed and typed. It solves two specific pains that make email-dependent end-to-end tests flaky. First, waiting — waitForMessage() long-polls and holds the connection open until the mail lands, usually under a second, so the retry loop and the sleep(5000) that made a suite pass locally and fail on CI both come out. Second, parsing — every message arrives with an extracted block containing the best OTP candidate, classified verify and unsubscribe links, SPF/DKIM/DMARC verdicts and a SpamAssassin score, so an assertion is one line and does not break when marketing redesigns the template. Custom domains matter more than they sound: shared test-mail domains end up on disposable-email blocklists and eventually your own signup form rejects your own tests, so paid plans let you point one MX record at MailFixture and use your own domain. Paid plans also issue dedicated US phone numbers whose SMS runs through the same extractor, for apps that have moved OTPs to text. It works with Playwright, Cypress, pytest, Selenium or plain cURL, and ships an MCP server so an AI agent can drive the same inboxes.
