Hexabot is a self-hostable platform for building AI agents, agentic workflows and business automation, with the emphasis firmly on keeping production data inside your own infrastructure. You scaffold a project with its CLI, start the local stack, and build workflows that connect conversations to actions across channels, with memory and a knowledge base behind them. The multichannel piece is central rather than bolted on — the same agent logic is meant to serve whichever surface a customer arrives through — and tools and actions are orchestrated from the same workflow layer, so an agent can look something up and then do something rather than only answering. The licensing is worth understanding before adopting it: Hexabot is source-available under FCL-1.0-ALv2 (Fair Core), not a permissive open-source licence. The Community edition is self-hosted and free with no licence key at all. Paid plans start at $19/month and work through licence-key activations, aimed at teams running customer-facing assistants, back-office actions and operational workflows that need higher user and workflow quotas. The billing model is a deliberate contrast with most of the category: the vendor states it does not bill by message or by workflow execution, though plan quotas still apply. At verification the project showed over a thousand GitHub stars, twenty-plus contributors and v3.4.0 released on 31 July 2026.
