Dirstarter is a Next.js template for building directory websites, sold once and reusable across unlimited projects. Directories are a well-understood business model — list things, charge for featured placement, take affiliate revenue, sell ads — but each one needs the same unglamorous scaffolding rebuilt: authentication, an admin panel, Stripe payments, a blog, internationalisation, and SEO-optimised statically generated pages. Dirstarter ships all of that assembled. The revenue side is built in rather than bolted on, with support for paid listings, featured spots, affiliate links and ad slots as parallel income streams, plus analytics that track visitors, user behaviour and which listings actually get attention. AI content generation is included for writing listing descriptions and recommending categories, which addresses the cold-start problem every new directory has where the first few hundred entries need copy nobody wants to write. Integrations cover Resend for email and Amazon S3 for storage. Multi-language support with translation management is included for directories aiming beyond one market. The credibility signal the vendor leads with is that OpenAlternative — a directory with real traffic — runs on this stack, and the project reports over 200 customers.
