About crystl

crystl is a macOS terminal built specifically for running several AI coding agents at once, rather than a general terminal that happens to host one. The organising concepts are gems and shards: a gem is a project and a shard is an isolated session within it, each getting its own git worktree so parallel agents do not collide on the same files. On top of that sits agent orchestration, where one agent is designated to coordinate a team of workers, and hero shards for summoning a single specialist for a narrow job. The monitoring surface is the part that distinguishes it from tmux plus discipline: floating action panels collect approvals and alerts from every running agent in one place, an agent activity panel shows each agent and the files it has touched, a history navigator searches every past session, and token tracking reports burn and turns remaining. Agents can be scheduled on a timer or chained into automation sequences that run a job unattended. The workbench adds a task list shared with the agents, a markdown editor, a screenshot bar for dragging images into a session, and one-click copy from any agent. Model configuration is open — agents can run on the user's own hardware or a provider's — and MCP servers connect external tools and data, with API keys held in the macOS Keychain. It works over SSH for remote development and has an iPhone companion for steering agents away from the desk.
