About Code By AI

Code By AI is a unified API gateway for AI coding agents. Instead of juggling separate accounts, payment methods and API keys for Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, developers get one key and one prepaid balance that works across Claude, GPT/Codex and Gemini models. You keep the tools you already use — Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Pi, Cline, Trae, Qoder, Qwen Code, CodeBuddy, ZCode and WorkBuddy — and simply point them at Code By AI's base URL. The service speaks four native wire formats with the same key and the same per-token price: Anthropic Messages, OpenAI Responses, OpenAI Chat Completions and Google Gemini. Requests are forwarded as-is rather than translated between protocols, so streaming, tool calls, reasoning items and token-usage frames behave the way each client expects. Claude models are also callable through the OpenAI-format endpoints, which means any OpenAI SDK can reach Claude without an Anthropic client. Pricing is pay-as-you-go. Token prices are shown on every model card next to the vendor's official list price, and the site lists 21 models (11 Claude, 6 Codex/GPT, 4 Gemini) at a stated average of about 13% of official price, with savings of up to 90%. There is no monthly subscription and no minimum spend: you top up a balance, usage is debited per token, and nothing resets at the end of the month. Larger top-ups receive an automatic tiered discount of 3% to 15% at checkout. Creating an account is free (Google, GitHub or email) and does not require a card; API calls require a top-up. Getting started takes a few minutes. Create an API key in the dashboard, top up, then run a one-line setup script on macOS or Linux. The script asks for your key, writes each tool's own configuration, backs up every file it changes, verifies the key, and can be undone with an --uninstall flag. Beyond coding models, the same key also provides access to GPT Image 2.5 for text-to-image and image-to-image generation at up to 4K resolution. Code By AI is aimed at individual developers, indie hackers and small teams who use terminal agents or AI IDEs heavily and want lower, more predictable per-token costs without switching tools.
