ChatPanel is a browser side panel for Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc that puts an AI assistant next to whatever you are reading, with everything running on your own machine. It works the moment you install it — a private model runs in the browser itself, with no API key, no account, and nothing to configure — and you can point it at your own cloud or local model later. Its distinguishing move is bring-your-own-agent: Claude Code, Codex, and Antigravity run locally under your existing logins, and a one-time helper app gives them a home in the browser so you can switch between them without leaving the page. Beyond chat it adds real capabilities. A built-in tool directory lets the assistant search, pull live data, and act in other apps, with one tool free and unlimited tools on Pro. On Zoom, Meet, Teams, and Webex it turns live captions — captions only, never your audio or video — into running notes, decisions, and action items plus a searchable transcript. Every conversation is stored locally and instantly searchable, with a visual topic map to jump back in. Saved prompts become one-tap Skills. The privacy feature is the most substantive: ChatPanel can strip PII before anything reaches the model — emails, phones, cards, and keys for free, plus names, organizations, and locations with on-device AI on Pro — replacing them with placeholders the model can still reason about and restoring the real values in the reply you read, with detection running locally and per-category control. It can also fill forms and click on your behalf, but only when you explicitly turn that on.
