Captioner is a browser-based subtitle generator and editor built specifically for video rather than for general-purpose transcription. It runs on Whisper but adds video-specific post-processing, and the two things it optimises for are the two that usually cost creators the most manual time: transcription accuracy and timestamp alignment. The vendor claims 98%+ accuracy across 98+ languages on videos up to two hours, and adds an extra alignment pass plus word-level timestamps so the caption cues actually land on the speech instead of needing to be nudged frame by frame. Editing happens entirely in the browser after upload, and a single click translates an existing subtitle track into another language. If a transcript already exists — a script, a blog post, a prepared talk — it can be imported directly and Captioner aligns it to the audio, the same idea as YouTube's auto-sync but applied to any video. Export covers both halves of the workflow: subtitle files in SBV, SRT and VTT for uploading alongside a YouTube video, or a rendered video export with the captions burned in using a font style chosen in the editor, which is what short-form platforms need. A set of free utilities sits alongside the paid product, including a subtitle converter, an SRT editor, a merge tool and a sync tool.
