Badgeify

About Badgeify

Badgeify solves a narrow macOS problem completely: if you hide your Dock, you lose the notification badges that live on it. Badgeify puts those badges in the menu bar instead, pulling unread counts from Messages, Apple Mail, Slack, Teams, Discord, WhatsApp and any other Mac application, so a hidden-Dock setup stops costing you visibility. It is explicitly positioned as a companion to Bartender, Ice and Hidden Bar rather than a competitor to them, which is the right read — those tools tidy the menu bar, this one gives it something worth showing. Badge presentation is configurable in the ways that matter for a strip of screen you look at hundreds of times a day: three styles (text, dot, circle), a custom highlight colour per app, and smart transparency that fades an icon out entirely when its app has nothing pending, so a quiet menu bar looks quiet. Multiple apps can be grouped under a single icon with a custom group name and colour, and important groups can be pinned to stay visible. Icons double as launchers. The app follows the system light and dark modes, and the interface is localised into nine languages. Reddit's r/macapps supplies most of the published testimonials, which is a fair proxy for who actually buys it.
