About AgentKanban
AgentKanban is a task board that plugs into agent harnesses inside VS Code, aimed at the point where ephemeral chat stops working. Its argument is that a single chat tab is fine for small tasks and breaks down for large ones and for wider project execution: the manual steering, the useful intermediate decisions and the history all vanish into a transcript that nobody can find later. AgentKanban keeps the task, the conversation history, the steering and the board context attached to the same unit of work. Boards, lanes and tasks are hosted and stay accessible from both the browser and the VS Code sidebar, with real-time collaborative editing so a team can plan together, and the board remains the source of truth for the work itself. Inside VS Code, agent harness chats are bound to the active task, so prompts, responses and task-level steering are captured against the work they belong to rather than a chat session. The payoff is low-noise resume: starting a new chat on a task injects only that task's context, so the next session begins from relevant history instead of a bloated transcript. It also carries shared AGENTS.md files and memory notes, plan/TODO/implement workflows, and Git worktree isolation so parallel agent work does not collide. The extension is on both the VS Code Marketplace and the Open VSX Registry, with an API and webhooks.
