Papercrane is a business-intelligence tool built around a coding agent instead of around a dashboard designer with an AI sidebar. The founder's framing of the problem is precise and matches what anyone who has asked Claude Code for a dashboard has hit: the agent writes genuinely good React, but the numbers are baked in at build time, so what you get is a photograph of the business that drifts further from the truth every day. MCP does not fix it, because the data connection belongs to the chat session and the generated dashboard cannot inherit it. Papercrane puts the connection inside the dashboard itself. The papercrane-cli command-line tool gives an agent authenticated access to your data, a real dashboard workspace to build into, and a publish step that returns a shareable link — so one prompt in Claude Code can go from a business question to a live dashboard on a URL you can send to a colleague, and the numbers stay live. It runs on the Claude or OpenAI subscription you already pay for rather than reselling inference. There are over a hundred data connectors, the ability to build your own integrations, git versioning with dashboards as code, custom domains, and per-tenant isolated embedded analytics on the enterprise tier.
