About Nobie

Nobie is a native macOS spreadsheet application built for people who live in Excel but do not want to live in Excel for Mac, with AI agent access as a first-class feature rather than a chat sidebar. The compatibility promise is the whole product: every Windows Excel keyboard shortcut is preserved so muscle memory transfers intact, every formula and every style is calculated the same way Excel calculates it, and the file format is plain .xlsx in and out with no proprietary intermediate — you can work in Nobie, open the same file in Excel, work there, come back, and the numbers tie. Full round-trip fidelity, tables, charts, and pivots are supported today; editing, VBA and macros, and multiplayer are listed as coming soon. Performance is the stated primary focus, with the team claiming week-over-week speed gains. The AI angle is deliberately unbundled: rather than shipping its own model, Nobie lets Claude, Codex, or Gemini connect directly to the spreadsheet, so your existing computer-use agent can operate on the workbook without a middleman service in between and without you leaving the context of your machine. Everything is local-only — no accounts, no servers, no uploads, no data collection or transmission. It is free forever under a published license, currently in beta, and made by an independent company in San Francisco, London, and Toronto.
