ManualFig turns product photos, CAD screenshots or a written step list into the specific kind of illustration technical documentation needs: clean line drawings, numbered assembly steps, part callouts, direction arrows, zoom details, warning panels and correct-versus-incorrect comparisons, exported as PNG or SVG. The distinction it draws is the right one — a manual figure is not a glossy render, it has one job, which is to show which part to touch, which way it moves and what done looks like. That makes it a genuinely different task from general AI image generation, and the tool is scoped to it: dedicated flows for photo-to-line-drawing, assembly instructions, work instructions, exploded views and troubleshooting guides, with named use cases in medical device IFUs, manufacturing work instructions, Amazon and e-commerce listings, furniture assembly and quick-start guides. Any figure can be edited with a sentence rather than redrawn, and every version is kept, so a documentation set can be revised when the product changes without going back to an illustrator. SVG export is what makes it usable downstream — the figure drops into a manual, a packaging insert, a help centre or a work-instruction system as vector art. One privacy detail is handled well for commercial users: free results may be showcased anonymously in a community gallery, but paid projects are explicitly never shown, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
