Line9 is a Mermaid diagram renderer that replaced the layout engine rather than restyling the output. Mermaid's own renderer is widely used and widely complained about for the same reason — edge routing and node placement get visually noisy as soon as a flowchart passes a dozen nodes — and Line9's pitch is that it parses the same Mermaid source you already have and lays it out with its own engine, so the diagrams in your README, Notion page or Confluence space improve without any source changes. It ships in three shapes. The web viewer renders in the browser with custom themes and SVG or PNG export, and shares diagrams by URL hash, which means the diagram source lives in the link rather than on Line9's server — a real privacy property for anyone diagramming internal architecture. The CLI is the piece that matters for agent and CI workflows: it renders from a file or a pipe, so a coding agent that emits Mermaid can produce a finished image as a build step. Published diagrams on the paid tier get stable URLs at line9.ai/d/<slug> and embed-ready output for Notion, Confluence and READMEs. The pricing is unusual in being honest about its own timeline: the early-adopter rate is explicitly described as closing to new sign-ups once the keyboard-first editor ships, and existing subscribers keep the rate.
