About Karea

Karea is a task and project manager built for developers on two premises: that the keyboard should never be left, and that an AI agent should be able to drive the tracker directly rather than through a human relaying its intentions. The first premise shows up as a command language — /nt to create a task, /ct to close one, /et to edit, chainable with ; and && — with autocomplete, parameter hints and short visual IDs. Flags set priority and deadline inline, so `/nt Fix the login bug -prio 1 -sla tomorrow` is a complete interaction. The second premise is the more distinctive half: Karea ships an official MCP server, published as karea-mcp on npm, and describes itself as the first MCP-native task manager. Adding one config block to Claude Code, Cursor or any MCP client gives the agent tools for creating, editing and closing tasks, plus notes, resources and recaps, so an agent that finishes a piece of work can close the ticket itself without clipboard round-trips. Around that sit a drag-and-drop weekly planner with automatic deadline assignment, colour-coded live deadline countdowns, an AI assistant for rescheduling and querying by chat, and generated daily recap emails. Built in Spain and EU-hosted.
