About EbSynth

EbSynth is VFX software for propagating a single painted frame across an entire shot. You pick keyframes out of your footage, paint or retouch them however you like, and EbSynth carries that treatment through the surrounding frames — which is how it gets used for hand-drawn rotoscope looks, digital makeup, colorization, and general video retouching without manual tracking. The team is unusually direct about what is and is not AI here: the propagation step is a texture-synthesis algorithm that works only from your own video and your own keyframes, with no generative model trained on outside data involved. There is a separate, optional Generate Image feature if you do want AI help producing the keyframe itself. That distinction matters for anyone with client or licensing constraints on generative output. Privacy is handled the same plain way — projects stay on your machine, video and keyframes are uploaded only for the render and deleted once results come back, and the Studio plan runs entirely offline with command-line automation for studios that cannot upload at all. EbSynth is made by Šárka Sochorová and Ondřej Jamriška at Secret Weapons, and the site ships a ten-minute tutorial that covers the full workflow. Chrome is the recommended browser for long or high-resolution projects.
