About DashVox
DashVox is a voice-first front end for coding agents running on your own machine. The sessions stay where they always were — Claude Code or Codex on your desktop — and DashVox connects to them over SSH so you can start and steer them by speaking, from a phone, a car or a watch. The design constraint is that the screen is optional: agent output is spoken and summarised rather than dumped as a diff, approvals are verbal, and there is a fully hands-free driving mode where you put the phone on the dash, speak a request and hear the reply with no taps, which works in any car because it does not require CarPlay. For cars that do have it there is a native CarPlay app with simple press-to-record controls, and Android Auto is listed alongside it. The pitch is explicitly about reclaiming commute time — check the status of three concurrent sessions, review a diff, approve a migration step — but it works equally with earbuds on a walk. It is model-agnostic, working with Claude, GPT and Gemini among others. The backend is the interesting part commercially: the self-hosted server is free with no account, no limits and no data collection, and the paid product is a managed alternative for people who do not want to provision it. The iOS app is on the App Store with Android listed as coming soon.
