About Bigjpg

Bigjpg is a long-running image enlarger built specifically around deep convolutional networks tuned for illustration and anime-style artwork, where generic upscalers tend to smear line art and flatten flat-colour regions. It enlarges up to 16x while preserving edges and reducing the noise and artefacts that JPEG compression leaves behind, and it handles photographs too, but the anime and illustration case is where it visibly outperforms a general-purpose resize. What makes it unusual in a subscription-saturated category is the pricing model: there is no monthly subscription at all. The free plan allows 20 images a month on shared servers at 4x with a 5MB upload cap, and the paid tiers are one-time payments that buy a fixed window of high-priority access — $6 for two months, $12 for six months, $22 for twelve. Every paid tier lifts the upload cap to 50MB, the ratio to 16x, and adds parallel enlarging and batch mode on high-performance servers. Offline enlarging is available on every plan including free. Payment goes through Stripe, WeChat Pay or Alipay, which reflects the tool's substantial user base outside the usual Western SaaS payment rails. For occasional use the free tier is genuinely workable, and for a burst of catalogue work the two-month pass costs less than a single month of most competing upscalers.
