About Amika

Amika is a control plane for sandboxed cloud agents: create a sandbox VM on any computer, run any agent inside it, and drive that agent from whatever surface you happen to be at. The same underlying sandbox serves three uses, and you can move between them without starting over. As engineering devboxes, every developer gets a cloud box that mirrors production — SSH straight in or attach it to your VPN so it's reachable like any host, expose services on URLs to view them from outside, boot in seconds from a snapshot that preserves the whole environment, and have services, tooling, and seeded data already running so you and your agents work against something real rather than a mock. As team cloud background agents, engineers and non-engineers alike spin up interactive agents from Slack, Linear, or the web, collaborate inside multiplayer sandboxes, and share environments across the team. As automation, the API and agentic workflows run background agents programmatically on their own schedule. The isolation story is the point: agents that can install packages, run migrations, and execute arbitrary shell need a blast radius, and a snapshot-backed sandbox is a cleaner boundary than a developer laptop. Amika is open core with the source on GitHub, and it deliberately does not resell inference — you bring your own LLM keys and pay only for the platform and the sandbox compute you actually burn.

Key Features

Sandbox VMs with SSH, VPN attachment, and externally reachable service URLs
Snapshot boot in seconds preserving the entire environment
Preloaded stack with services, tooling, and seeded data on boot
Agents drivable from Slack, Linear, the web, or the API
Multiplayer sandboxes and org-shared secrets for team work
Open core with the source on GitHub

Amika Pros & Cons

Pros

  • +Bring-your-own-keys means no inference markup on top of the platform fee
  • +Open core, so the sandbox layer isn't a black box
  • +One sandbox primitive covers devboxes, team agents, and automation

⚠️ Cons

  • Per-user pricing plus compute credits makes team cost hard to forecast
  • Free tier's 2 concurrent sandboxes only supports evaluation
  • Running your dev environment in someone else's cloud is a security review

Who Is Amika Best For?
